Here it is! The first recordings of the exciting, soulful, JB Davis! You've heard him in New Orleans on Bourbon Street for ten years, now you can take him home with you! At least, you can take home some of the songs that you loved to hear JB sing. The unmistakable influences of Sam Cooke, Ray Charles, BB King, Bobby Blue Bland, Otis Redding. Songs all recorded with great musicians who really love the blues! This is a blues lovers CD, plus the great Rhythm & Blues songs that helped shape popular music all over the world.

Born in Mobile, Alabama, May 26, 1944, JB's mother moved to Moss Point, Mississippi when JB was still a baby. Growing up with his musical tastes being formed by listening to Sam Cooke, Ray Charles, BB King and all the great Mississippi blues singers, it is no surprise that all of those influences are heard in JB's music. Singing is a gift from the Almighty in JB's case. No formal musical training, the talent was always there. JB plays piano for many hours in Bourbon Street night clubs, and his strength as a singer comes entertaining audiences late in the night, early into the morning! One has to have a great love of the music to be able to perform the long hours that are required on Bourbon Street, but those long hours have helped JB to develop a repertoire of “crowd pleaser songs! The songs on this album are a good representation of the variety of material that has become the back bone of American music. From Sweet Home Chicago, to What A Wonderful World, Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay, and House Of The Rising Sun, JB “Brings It On Home" with great style.

This album was recorded with the help of some great New Orleans musicians, all veterans of the blues, lovers of the music that they play. The drummer on 8 of the songs is the exciting Darrel Brown, son of Harold Brown, one of the founders of WAR! Darrel adds his rhythmic ideas to the gumbo. Big Tom Williams is the drummer for four songs, and his power is obvious. Tom has been working with Rooster & The Chicken Hawks for several years on Bourbon Street and can be heard on the new Veda Love album. Ron Nethercutt adds his “two songs worth with trombone solos on Wonderful World and St James Infirmary. Ron is a veteran of the Sound Of New Orleans All Star Brass Band, along with his many other credits. Gary Edwards, who produced this album, insures the stability of the rhythm section on bass. A good blues album needs a good blues guitar player. Allen “AlPo" Poche is another long term Bourbon Street musician, and is arguably the finest lead guitar player in New Orleans. Listen to Lil Red Rooster for a sample of slide guitar that will make you look for the new AlPo album! Allen also appears on the latest GG Shinn album “You Can Never Keep A Good Man Down soon to be released on Sound Of New Orleans. But, for the time being, you can hear him with JB Davis. Saxophone fits well with the songs that JB Davis chose for this album, and the saxophonist of choice in New Orleans for many years has been Jerry Jumonville! The solos that Jerry plays on JB s songs are worth the price of the CD! Truly, a musician's musician and great arranger.

The skillful mixing talents of Grammy Award winning engineer, Gordon Shryock, put the sound in the right spot. Gordon was assisted by Robert Wilson, veteran of the Ike Turner band.
This is a great combination of talent and love, and something worth talking about and certainly something worth hearing!
